Walking the talk on data-driven transformation

How Genpact unified data and boosted insights using Microsoft Fabric

Analytics

At Genpact, we believe in practicing what we preach. As a global leader in advanced technology services, we are our Client Zero, continually challenging ourselves to adopt the same cutting-edge solutions we bring to our clients. When we spotted an opportunity to gain a competitive edge through a unified, AI-powered data platform, we turned to our trusted partner, Microsoft.

Here's how we leveraged Microsoft Fabric to migrate 15 terabytes of data, connect 300 Power BI reports, and empower over 2,000 active users with game-changing insights and efficiency.

Challenge

Upgrading our data ecosystem for smarter insights and seamless efficiency

As we grew larger, our data landscape became more diverse, with multiple business units independently creating dashboards tailored to their unique needs, each tied to different data sources. This ultimately led to inefficiencies, misaligned insights, and slower decision-making.

And while our central data warehouse did its job, it wasn't equipped with the robust AI capabilities we needed to seamlessly integrate data across the enterprise. It was clear – if we wanted to scale innovation and operational excellence, modernizing our data ecosystem was essential.

Solution

An integrated, future-ready data platform with Microsoft Fabric

We needed more than a quick fix; we needed a comprehensive change. After careful evaluation, Microsoft Fabric emerged as the best choice for its AI-driven architecture, deep integration with emerging technologies, and compatibility with our existing Microsoft ecosystem.

We approached the rollout strategically, starting with HR functions before expanding to finance and other business areas. Using Azure Fabric OneLake as a backbone, we streamlined data storage and advanced our AI capabilities with Azure OpenAI integration.

  • Unified dashboards: Key HR functions like talent management and compensation were consolidated, offering real-time insights into vital metrics

  • Multidimensional data insights: Our proprietary Chat with Data solution under the Scout platform, built on Microsoft Fabric, delivers rapid, rich insights, offering a seamless, one-stop platform to drive decision-making

  • Natural-language-driven insights: Connecting 300 Power BI reports to Fabric's intelligent analytics tools allowed over 2,000 users to access actionable insights faster than ever

To truly scale and accelerate our internal transformation, we needed a unified, future-ready data platform. Microsoft Fabric provided the single source of truth we required to drive innovation and operational excellence. Starting with human resources, we have scaled its implementation across the organization.

Impact

Connected insights. Smarter decisions. Accelerated innovation

Partnering with Microsoft Fabric didn't just modernize our data infrastructure; it transformed how we work.

Here's how the shift has reshaped our operations:

  • Smarter, faster decisions: Business leaders and teams now have real-time access to data through unified dashboards rather than disconnected reports

  • Faster time to value: We successfully implemented the early use cases in HR and finance in less than six months, accelerating our path to measurable outcomes

  • Streamlined HR operations: Centralized data insights on key metrics such as attrition, reskilling, and workforce planning have empowered HR teams to make more informed decisions, optimize costs, and improve operational efficiency

  • Smoother finance processes: Genpact's unified data strategy empowers its finance teams to simplify workflows and enable accurate data and insights

  • A springboard for innovation: Our data platform now supports machine learning and natural language processing use cases, unlocking new levels of creativity and driving operational excellence

  • Enterprise-wide scalability: Migration of 15 terabytes of data and 300 connected Power BI reports has equipped over 2,000 active users with seamless access to vital information

Microsoft Fabric has been a game changer for Genpact enterprise functions, creating a single source of quality enterprise data and enabling natural-language-driven AI and ML insights.

What’s next?

We're not done yet. By archiving data into Microsoft Data Lake, we're amplifying scalability and setting the stage for even more seamless operations. At the same time, we're fine-tuning our internal use of Microsoft Fabric so we can eventually package our learnings into a robust, proven offering for clients.

By implementing Microsoft Fabric, we haven't just modernized our operations – we've set a blueprint for how enterprises can unify, scale, and futureproof their processes. The result? The potential to drive greater resilience, innovation, and growth in an increasingly competitive market.

This is what it means to lead by example as Client Zero, and at Genpact, we're excited for what's next.
